A 77-year-old Florida resident is looking at hard time after being busted for allegedly purchasing erectile dysfunction drugs without a prescription, intending to distribute them throughout his retirement community.
According to The Associated Press, Reginald Kincer stands accused of purchasing $1,800 worth of generic Viagra which was then shipped through interstate commerce, making it a federal offense. He allegedly intended to sell the supplements to his neighbors at The Villages, one of the largest retirement communities in the nation.
The debauched community, which featured in the toe-curling documentary Some Kind of Heaven (2020), has been the source of much news about its resident’s sex lives. It’s often flippantly referred to as “the STD capital of America.” As such, it’s not surprising ED pills would be a hot commodity in town.
Federal authorities allege that Kincer might have distributed the pills outside the state of Florida, as well. Due to the suspect’s lack of prescription, the tablets he received were apparently mislabeled to throw investigators off. Though the septuagenarian denies any criminal intent, it's unclear what his defense will look like.
Residents of The Villages say Kincer is well-known as the community’s “neighborhood pharmacist.” One neighbor noted that the “man’s just trying to do a girl a favor,” while another said he was “trying to help his fellow citizen out.” Someone else, though, seemed worried that the investigation might reveal the names of Kincer’s clients.
If convicted, Kincer could get slapped with a fine of up to $10,000 and spend up to a year in federal prison.
