An insulated vest is an underrated layering essential. They’re sometimes overlooked because people don’t always know what to do with them — why wear something that warms the body but leaves the arms exposed? This vest features classic horizontal baffles that look less technical than Patagonia’s Nano Puff, making it a more city-friendly style. The funnel neck design allows you to zip it up to the chin, and there’s a flap under the zipper to prevent heat loss through the placket. The jacket also features two hand pockets that can be zipped up for secure storage. It’s designed with a standard, true-to-size fit that’s roomy enough for layering without being baggy. North Face’s Half Dome logo is featured on the front and back of the vest.

Despite the casual styling, the fabric and insulation of the jacket make it a premium, outdoor-ready option. The jacket is made from a 50/50 blend of 600 fill down and polyester, giving the vest the lightweight benefits of genuine down with the water-resistant performance of synthetic insulation. The outer is also treated with a PFC-free DWR coating, adding breathable water resistance to the vest. The down, polyester fill, and polyester outer are all recycled, for a more eco-friendly construction.

Shoppers appreciated how easy it was to style the vest, with one mentioning that it was “easy to wear on its own or layer with a hoodie underneath,” and another writing that it was their “go-to almost every day here in Chicago winters.” Others liked the multi-season versatility, with one writing that the vest can “take you from fall to winter on into spring.”
