A bear in Florida seemingly turned the Goldilocks fairy tale on its head as he made himself at home in a human family's house. Security footage captured the incident as the three-legged animal known locally in his community as Tripod broke into the Lake Mary property and checked what was in their outdoor fridge.
Homeowner Josaury Faneite-Diglio told WESH that she received a security camera notification on her phone in the late afternoon on Sept. 3. She wasn't home, but her 13-year-old son Joseph Diglio was, as was the family dog. When the pup started barking, Diglio went to investigate. He saw Tripod wandering around their lānai and started recording. "I've never been this close to a bear," he marveled.
Tripod hobbled around the patio furniture and even opened up the outdoor mini fridge to see what was inside. He cracked open a few White Claws and had a drink before eventually running off.
"He ate the fish food we had outside next to our fish tank and then proceeded to the bar," Faneite-Diglio recounted to WESH. "He took three White Claws, drank, and left very happy." As for his choice of beverage? "His favorite flavor is mango and strawberry."
Diglio, meanwhile, told the news outlet that he was concerned in the moment with the animal possibly entering the home. "Once I saw him open the fridge, I got scared that he could open the doors to like the houses," he said, noting he locked all the doors upon the sight.
Tripod might have made a bit of a mess on her patio, but Faneite-Diglio didn't mind as he's a beloved neighborhood resident. "I was not scared because we know the bear really well," she said. "He lives here. We respect their habitat as much as we can." It's the second time a bear has broken through the outdoor screen to look around the patio. Diglio said it was "just part of living where we live."
The White Claw fandom apparently goes beyond just humans.
