TikTok Users Unlock McDonald’s Hack for Extra Tasty McNuggets

TikTok users are abuzz as news of the latest McDonald’s hack rolls across the platform. Back in February, user @xomakel2 urged their followers to order their McNuggets “extra crispy” the next time they stop at McD’s. They even show off a box of gleaming, golden, super crispy McNuggets.

Nearly a year later, the hack is catching on thanks to food vlogger @tommywinkler, better known as The Food Guy. In a video posted on December 14, Winkler took himself to a McDonald’s location to order some extra crispy nuggets for himself. After a tense few moments during which it was unclear if the restaurant could meet his request, Winkler got his order and confirmed that they did indeed look “extra crispy.” The audible crunch when he bit down seemed to confirm this.

A few days later, fellow food critic Kevin Uznanski (@lord_cappucino) tried the hack, ordering a set of “well done” McNuggets. “We might be onto something here,” he said after taking his first bite. “These might be some of the best nuggets I’ve ever had at McDonald’s.”

However, some TikTok users weren’t enamored with the idea of extra-fried nuggets. “That means they are triple fried,” wrote one cautious commenter. “No thanks, I like my arteries and heart.”

Users on X (formerly Twitter) have seemingly been aware of the hack much longer than those on TikTok. “I went to McDonald's and ordered chicken nuggets extra crispy, and I've clearly lost all control of my life,” @Kays_delights wrote back in 2017.

McDonald’s has had a busy year, making a variety of shake-ups to its menu and brand. This month, the company announced major changes to the Big Mac as well as its other burgers and sandwiches. It also teased the return of the Snack Wrap and an end to its broken ice cream machine debacle, amidst opening a much-talked-about spin-off restaurant in Illinois. CosMc’s is the company’s bid at a Starbucks competitor, focusing on drinks and small snacks.
