Terrell Owens Claps Back at Stephen A. Smith After Threats

NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Owens has been involved in a public back-and-forth with sports commentator Stephen A. Smith for the past few weeks. It all started when Owens shared a clip from a 2021 appearance on Smith's ESPN show First Take where he claimed Smith's white co-host Max Kellerman was "Blacker" than him. Since then, the two haven't been holding back, with Smith threatening to "expose" things Owens has done behind the scenes.

"You know how I feel about your sorry ass [Terrell Owens] and you know why!" Smith wrote on social media. "You should thank your Heavenly Father I haven’t zeroed in on you with the trifling shit you tried to pull. Tell folks to ask ESPN what your desperate ass tried to pull. Keep on talking. Eventually, you’ll expose yourself!"

Owens, for his part, isn't having it, and would rather settle things in person rather than using Twitter (or rather, X) fingers. He further addressed the issue this week.

“Keep that same energy. You’re gonna call me a sorry ass and I’m pathetic things, that I’m trifling,” Owens said in a new interview on All the Smoke. “When [and] if I ever come across you, keep that same energy. It’s not a threat, but you’re not gonna use that platform to downgrade me as a person and what I’ve accomplished for your benefit."

"He's used his platform to really tarnish [my image], attack my character [and] who I am as a person," he stated plainly, going on to speak to Smith directly: "You’re not finna disrespect me."

"He had the opportunity to sit in front of his in front of his audience, his millions of subscribers…. But for me, I wanted to share with everybody to give them some context as to what he is saying is not accurate, it’s not totally true,” Owens clarified.

Smith later explained that their beef stemmed from Owens allegedly attempting to sue Smith following their infamous on-air exchange involving Kellerman

"He had lawyers contact ESPN, who obviously contacted me, to try and sue me," Smith said on The Stephen A. Smith Show. "Needless to say, it was laughable. It never went anywhere. He wasn't getting a damn dime which he was hoping to get. That's why I was pissed off Saturday, because we haven't spoken since then because he tried to sue me."

It's probably safe to say we won't see these two sharing a screen any time soon.
