Apple regularly shakes up the proprietary colors of each new line of iPhones, and the iPhone 15 is expected to be no exception. But compared to the purple and gold of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, this year's premium models are rumored to switch it up with a couple of muted new colors.
9to5Mac reports that a new grey color is likely to replace Gold. Its name may also be reflected in the upcoming switch from a stainless steel chassis to lighter and more durable titanium, with a working marketing title "Titan Gray." Based on an image obtained by the publication, the grey color will appear "darker than silver/white and lighter than space black/graphite."
Likewise, the Deep Purple color that was introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max is expected to be replaced with a new dark blue finish. And as usual, the high-end models will also come in silver and black.
News of the 15 Pro and Pro Max colors comes on the heels of notorious Apple leaker @URedditor revealing anticipated new colors for the base iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter). According to the insider, the colors that have been tested throughout different development stages have been pink, green, blue, yellow, a dark black or midnight color, and possibly even orange.
It's still unclear which of the colors will make the final cut.
These are the colors that were tested on the base model iPhone 15, throughout different development stages:
— Unknownz21 🌈 (@URedditor) August 21, 2023
- Pink / Rose Gold / Blush Gold
- Green
- Blue
- Yellow
- Orange (inconsistent mentions)
- Black / Midnight / Dark / Basalt
We should see at least some of these
However, these colors are only a slight deviation from the iPhone 14 base and Plus model colors, which are Blue, Purple, Midnight, Starlight, Product Red, and Yellow, the latter of which was introduced in March 2023, following the initial launch in September 2022.
Although an exact date for the launch has yet to be determined, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has reported that it's likely the iPhone 15 models will be unveiled on Sept. 12. In addition to new colors, the new line is expected to feature some exciting new upgrades, such as live voicemail, massive performance upgrades, and killer graphics.
