This Custom LX 600 Is Perfect for Your Next Outdoor Adventure

Outdoor adventure enthusiasts who also appreciate the creature comforts in life are going to be catching major inspo from this year's Overland Expo. The world's premier event series for DIY travelers is unveiling a fully customized 2022 Lexus LX 600, modified with components from 25 exhibitors at this weekend's Overland Expo West 2023, taking place in Flagstaff Arizona from May 19 to May 21.

Among the upgrades the LX 600 has been given include a ARB Summit MKII front bumper, ARB’s new Intensity IQ lights, the first-ever Prinsu roof rack designed for the LX 600, elevated suspension components from Total Chaos and Radflo for optimal off-road handling, ICON Dynamics 17-inch compression wheels, and 33/12.5R17 Kenda Klever R/T tires.

And of course, what outdoor adventure would be complete without a trailer. The pièce de résistance is a Pando 2.0. Teardrop Camper from Off Grid Trailers, which boasts features such as queen-size sleeping quarters, air conditioning, shower and on-demand hot water system, rear galley kitchen with dual-burner cooktop, and the capability for up to 33 gallons of onboard potable fresh water.

Both the custom LX 600 and Off Grid Trailer will be auctioned off separately on Bring a Trailer, with all proceeds going to the Overland Expo Foundation charity.

This particular model of SUV was chosen as the base vehicle for a number of performance and luxury-based reasons, such as its GA-F body-on-frame platform, 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, and luxurious cabin, as well as a number of standard safety and off-road aids.

"This year’s Ultimate Overland Vehicle was created for a family of four to explore deep into the back country and stay there for a week or more at a time," said Jessica Kirchner, Emerald Consumer Events Marketing SVP, the parent company of the Overland Expo. "The LX 600, as it is built, can alone support an extended overland trip. However, adding Pando 2.0 enables overlanders to set up basecamp and extend their journey and enjoyment."

"More than simply building a flagship vehicle for the overland industry, it was important to us to support the community and our exhibitors," Kirchner added. "Our partners developed all new components for the LX 600 for this build. That means, starting today, LX 600 owners now have aftermarket support."

Overland Expo events feature hundreds of vendors representing adventure travel equipment, camping gear, bikes, and vehicles. Additionally, each event offers hundreds of hours of class sessions, covering everything from off-road driving techniques and adventure motorcycling to inspirational programs, roundtable discussions, demonstrations, and more.

The expo is also home to the Overland Film Festival, which will screen a curated selection of films documenting vehicle-based travel adventures from independent adventurers and filmmakers.
