The new film has an all-star cast and centers around mysterious events that occur in a fictional desert town in the 1950s.
Need an escape from drab early spring weather? Step into the color-saturated world of Asteroid City, a new Wes Anderson film set to premiere this summer. The first trailer for the film dropped today, and it has all the hallmarks you'd expect from the renowned writer and director: Beautiful, color-drenched scenery, bright costumes, and a massive ensemble cast full of stars.
According to the official synopsis, Asteroid City is set in a fictional desert town in southwestern U.S. around 1955. The little town is hosting a “Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet” convention, which draws students and their parents from all over the country. The synopsis and the trailer are light on plot details, but the conference gets dramatically disrupted by “world-changing events,” and the trailer seems to hint that aliens, or at least mysterious signals from outer space, might be involved.
