The Best Drivers to Watch at the Canadian Grand Prix

The 2022 Formula 1 racing season is on the verge of becoming a rout. Red Bull Racing has built a hefty lead over Ferrari for the Constructors’ Championship, and the only driver within spitting distance of defending champ Max Verstappen for the Drivers’ Championship is his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez. Verstappen won last weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix, and the early retirements of both Carlos Sainz’s and Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari cars meant there was no drama on his way to victory. On the 15th lap, Verstappen passed Perez as they sped into the Baku City Circuit’s first turn. The Dutchman cruised after that and finished 21 seconds ahead of Perez to take the top step on the podium.

The Canadian Grand Prix this week in Montreal is a big deal, then, not just because it should be a fun race with a lot of speed, but because F1 is at risk of having two non-competitive championship races if Red Bull runs away with things again. Here are seven drivers worth close attention this weekend.
