Thor “The Mountain” Bjornsson Just Broke The World Deadlift Record Pulling 501 kg

World’s strongest man Hafthor “The Mountain” Bjornsson broke a nearly four-year-old deadlift record today (05/03/2020), pulling 1,104 pounds (501 kg) off the floor. The Icelandic weightlifter, who played “The Mountain” on hit HBO show “Game of Thrones,” is the three-time defending champion of Europe’s Strongest Man event. The successful attempt was broadcast on Twitch and ESPN. Known also as “Thor,” the 6-foot-9, 425-pound Bjornsson broke the previous record of 1,102.31 pounds (500 kilograms), set by England’s Eddie Hall in 2016.
