Maintaining a healthy body and sharp brain are important for a fulfilling life. Eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep can help keep your body in good physical shape, while engaging in activities that challenge your mind, such as reading or learning a new skill, can help keep your brain sharp. Additionally, managing stress and practicing self-care can also contribute to overall well-being.

An insulated vest is an underrated layering essential. They’re sometimes overlooked because people don’t always know what to do with them — why wear something that warms the body but leaves the arms exposed? But shielding the core can go a long way in making you feel warmer, without constricting movement in your arms. Vests are also easier to layer under warmer jackets; you never have to fuss with sleeves that don’t line up under the coat, and vests also work great over hoodies or long-sleeve tees.

Outdoor brands make some of the best vests, and right now, you can save nearly $50 on The North Face’s Aconcagua 3 Vest. Typically $160, Nordstrom is offering the Dark Sage colorway for $112. Reviewers gave this more than 420 five-star reviews.

This vest features classic horizontal baffles that look less technical than Patagonia’s Nano Puff, making it a more city-friendly style. The funnel neck design allows you to zip it up to the chin, and there’s a flap under the zipper to prevent heat loss through the placket. The jacket also features two hand pockets that can be zipped up for secure storage. It’s designed with a standard, true-to-size fit that’s roomy enough for layering without being baggy. North Face’s Half Dome logo is featured on the front and back of the vest.

Despite the casual styling, the fabric and insulation of the jacket make it a premium, outdoor-ready option. The jacket is made from a 50/50 blend of 600 fill down and polyester, giving the vest the lightweight benefits of genuine down with the water-resistant performance of synthetic insulation. The outer is also treated with a PFC-free DWR coating, adding breathable water resistance to the vest. The down, polyester fill, and polyester outer are all recycled, for a more eco-friendly construction.

Shoppers appreciated how easy it was to style the vest, with one mentioning that it was “easy to wear on its own or layer with a hoodie underneath,” and another writing that it was their “go-to almost every day here in Chicago winters.” Others liked the multi-season versatility, with one writing that the vest can “take you from fall to winter on into spring.”

Another shopper appreciated that the vest had “lots of pocket space,” and multiple shoppers cited the secure zippered side pockets as a favorite feature. Additionally, shoppers appreciated that the vest was “lightweight yet warm” and “perfect for on the go.”

But our favorite review? This one: “I’m a Michigan USPS employee, I wear this everyday for working outside and it keeps me warm. It's been a mild winter so far, but this and a NorthFace hoodie does the job. Love it!”

Whether you’re taking it on a ski trip or just walking the dog, this vest is a great everyday option, and it’s even better for $50 off.

We're often told that hard work will pay off and that our financial success is directly tied to how much we push ourselves to make money. It turns out there might be another factor at play determining just how rich or poor we are: our faces.

A new study published in the APA Journal of Experimental Psychology explored just how facial features create certain perceptions of social class standing and how they can play a role in perpetuating stereotypes. Researchers at the University of Glasgow were curious about what makes someone appear to be rich or poor and how these appearances are connected to other snap judgments we make about competence, warmth, dominance, and trustworthiness.

The scientists—who studied caucasian participants from Western countries—found that a combination of facial features can signal to our brains whether someone might be of a higher social standing or not. They found "poor" faces to be wider, shorter, and flatter with downturned mouths; these features were also associated with incompetence, untrustworthiness, and cold exteriors. By contrast, "rich" faces were narrower and longer with upturned mouths, which in turn corresponded to perceptions of competence, trustworthiness, and warmth.

"People who are perceived to be of high or low social class standing are also often judged as having advantageous or unfavorable traits, respectively," study author Dr. R. Thora Bjornsdottir said in a statement. "Such judgements are formed even just from facial appearance, and this can have substantial downstream consequences, including disadvantaging those who are perceived to be of lower social class standing."

"In our study, by revealing the facial features that underlie these subjective judgements, we provide new insights into what makes someone look rich or poor and show how these judgements relate to positive and negative stereotypes (such as competence vs. incompetence)," Bjornsdottir continued. "The results suggest that social class stereotypes explain the link between facial appearance and judgements of individuals’ social class standing. This highlights that the stereotypes we hold are consequential for how we perceive others—they bias our perceptions. Our impressions of other people can then lead to particular advantages or disadvantages for them."

In conducting the study, the scientists wanted to find a connection between particular facial features and how they affect our perception of the person behind them.

"Our research demonstrates how specific facial attributes play a pivotal role in connecting social class perceptions with related stereotypes," co-author Prof. Rachael E. Jack said. "These findings are not only valuable for advancing our understanding of central social perception theories, but could also help with future interventions designed to interrupt biased perceptions."

Of course, the more money you have, the more options you have to modify your face to have more "rich" features.

The Detroit Lions are set to face off against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game on Jan. 28. The team has enjoyed a good winning record this season and could be well on their way to their first Super Bowl next month. But one Lions fan is so confident about their future success that he's permanently marked their (potential) future Super Bowl victory on his skin.

Michigan resident and diehard Lions fan Alex Chepeska got the team's logo and the Vince Lombardi Trophy tattooed on his upper arm with the words "Lions Super Bowl Champs 2024." It wasn't a decision he made when he saw the Lions were doing well and had a shot at playing in the big game; he got the ink before the season even started.

"I've never been so sure of anything in my life," Chepeska told CBS News of his preemptive skin artwork. "I got this in early August, a week before the first preseason game, and I knew they were doing it, it's happening."

The Lions went on to win 12 games in the regular season, though the team has never won a Super Bowl in its nearly 100-year history. As far as his tattoo goes, Chepeska admitted he's gotten mixed reactions to the piece. "Yeah, there is a few haters out there, but mostly everyone has been positive," he said, noting that observers began changing their tune as the season went on. "The longer it goes, the more people are on board."

If the Lions do end up winning the Super Bowl, Chepeska should consider buying a lottery ticket next. "It feels like destiny," he said of the Lions' Super Bowl chances. "It's our turn."

A former WWE employee has accused the company’s co-founder, Vince McMahon, of sexual abuse and human trafficking in a bombshell lawsuit.

Janel Grant named McMahon, WWE, and the promotion’s former head of talent relations, John Laurinaitis, as defendants in the case, filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut. The lawsuit claims McMahon and Laurinaitis sexually abused and trafficked Grant before and throughout her career at the WWE, often on company property and using WWE funds.

The lawsuit reads: “After succumbing to pressure for a physical relationship [with McMahon], Ms. Grant was slotted into an entry-level position as an ‘administrator-coordinator’—a position McMahon created for her in WWE’s legal department [in 2019].”

The suit further alleges that McMahon “repeatedly used sex toys named after other WWE employees, wrestlers, and performers to sexually groom Ms. Grant for trafficking to those same people.” It also claims McMahon “would shower Ms. Grant with gifts and empty work promotions, while at the same time threatening her livelihood and her reputation if she wouldn’t succumb to his increasingly depraved sexual demands, including disseminating pornography of Ms. Grant to ‘thousands’ of individuals and engaging in sex acts with other WWE employees—some of whom were complete strangers.”

The lawsuit contains harrowing, detailed examples of the alleged “extreme cruelty and degradation” McMahon subjected Grant to. One of the more extreme allegations details an alleged threesome between Grant, McMahon, and one of his friends. The suit claims that McMahon “defecated on Ms. Grant…and then commanded her to continue pleasuring his ‘friend’—with feces in her hair and running down her back.”

The suit also recounts another alleged episode in which both McMahon and Laurinaitis assaulted Grant in their office while WWE staffers sat at their desks outside. The suit claims WWE staffers were aware of the abuse and “actively sought to conceal the wrongdoing.”

“Through all this trauma, Ms. Grant has endured profound suffering in silence, [a] feeling of exploitation, loss of security, and the fear of facing the wrath of WWE and McMahon’s army of attorneys,” the lawsuit reads.

Neither McMahon, Laurinaitis, nor WWE have publically commented on the allegations.

McMahon was suspended from his positions with the WWE and parent company TKO in 2022 after allegations were made that he provided "hush money" payments to other women who had accused him of assault. He returned to the organization in January 2023.

Down jackets are one of the best three-season styles for men to own, but sometimes they’re just not warm enough. And while they’re great for layering, having a tough winter jacket to wear in freezing weather is non-negotiable. Recently, one of the most iconic winter jackets for men went on sale at Huckberry for nearly $100 off with a backstory you wouldn’t believe.

Right now, the Huckberry-exclusive Eddie Bauer Skyliner Waxed Jacket is on sale for $209—30% off the original price of $299. For this collaboration, the two brands joined forces to release an ultra-limited run of jackets in a handsome dark green and dark gray color, with the former now discounted, in sizes small through extra large. There haven’t been many reviews at Huckberry, but this jacket is 88 years old and has one of the coolest stories behind it.

The invention of the Skyliner Jacket—the first down jacket patented in the US—was the result of a near-death experience. Eddie Bauer was in the middle of a winter fishing trip in the Pacific Northwest and had a life-threatening encounter with hypothermia. Surviving, he used this as motivation to create a jacket that could stand up to the brutality of northwestern winters. Combining his knowledge of outerwear with that of feathers and down from working with fishing flies and shuttlecocks, he created the first version of the legendary Skyliner Jacket.

This Skyliner Jacket is a bomber-style down jacket that’s lightweight and maneuverable while still providing ample warmth, protection, and durability. It’s lined with soft flannel and features a durable water-repellent (DWR) coating and 800 fill down that’s Responsible Down Certified. It also features two hand pockets on the front and one interior zipper pocket that can fit most cell phones. Classically, it has a zip-closure as well as a ribbed, elasticized hemline and cuff detail to seal in heat.

This is not the typical Skyliner Jacket, which is also on sale. Huckberry has partnered with Eddie Bauer to elevate this iconic American jacket by adding the former’s sought-after wax coating to the outer shell for increased weather resistance and upping the cozy factor with the flannel lining.

When Huckberry first dropped this jacket, it sold out so quickly that it became one of the brand’s most successful collaborations ever. And while reviews haven’t come in quite yet for the limited-run Breen colorway, those from the initial release paint a picture of what to expect.

“Love the look. Such a classic style,” as one shopper described. “The quality of the materials is just excellent. Super thick and soft flannel lining, lots of down, and durable exterior. This jacket is seriously warm…I was perfectly comfortable with just a T-shirt underneath going for a walk in 20-degree weather.”

“I instantly fell in love with this jacket and the great flannel lining,” another shopper said. “It is very warm and it will be toasty when the temps drop here in Northern Minnesota…A great garment, I definitely would recommend it.”

Finding such a popular coat like the Eddie Bauer Skyliner Jacket on sale presents an opportunity worth acting on. That’s why if you’re looking for the perfect winter jacket with a high weight-to-warmth ratio that’ll last for years this is one to get. But when waxed jackets at Huckberry go on sale, they sell out in the blink of an eye, so scoop up your size while it’s still available.

Ford announced a recall of nearly 1.9 million Explorer SUVs on Wednesday over reports of trim pieces flying off and causing hazards for other drivers on the road.

The recall affects Explorer models through 2011 and 2019, following an investigation by U.S. regulators last January that stemmed from 164 consumer complaints. Although the recall is currently only for vehicles sold in the U.S., Canadian regulators had also inquired about the issue.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration posted documents on Wednesday detailing that the clips holding the trim pieces that cover the roof supports near the windshield can sometimes come loose, which can then dislodge and increase the risk of a crash. The documents state that while Ford initially decided against a recall due to low mass of the part, the company eventually complied with industry regulators after it was determined the issue was a safety hazard.

"An A-pillar exterior trim part that detaches while driving can create a road hazard for other road users, increasing the risk of a crash," the federal agency said in the recall documents. "Some of the exterior A-pillar applique trim clip attachments are not properly engaged due to improper assembly or repair. If this occurs, the A-pillar appliqué trim, which borders the right and left side of the windshield, may be loose, missing, or become detached."

Ford said in a statement that it expects only about 5 percent of recalled Explorers to be impacted by the problem. Vehicle owners will be notified starting March 13, but in the meantime they can contact dealers to ensure the clips are engaged. If needed, adhesive may be applied to hold them in place.

"We expect only 5 percent of the vehicle population to be affected and encourage customers to contact their dealership for an inspection when parts are available," the company said in a statement. "At that point, customers will have free access to mobile repair and pick-up-and-delivery services at participating dealerships."

Although Ford admitted in documents that it was aware of 568 consumer complaints and over 14,000 warranty reports of missing or detached parts, the company had not been informed of any crashes or injuries stemming from the problem.

Back in 2017, Turkish chef Nusret Gökçe became an internet sensation after video of him sprinkling salt on his steak went viral, earning him the nickname "Salt Bae." He's opened restaurants all over the world and serves up his signature meats and other menu items, but it doesn't come cheap; one steak, for example, could set you back several hundred dollars.

Gökçe's prices remain a popular criticism of his establishments, but he doesn't appear bothered by the backlash. On Jan. 21, he shared an eye-popping bill that some customers rang up at Nusr-Et Steakhouse in Dubai. They spent a total of 398,630 U.A.E. dirhams, equaling more than $108,500 USD. Gökçe shared the receipt with a simple reflection: "Money comes, money goes."

A post shared by Nusr_et#Saltbae (@nusr_et)

The diners had quite the time dining at the steakhouse. They ordered menu items like beef carpaccio, fruit platters, French fries, and baklava. Of course, the star of the show is the meat, and they didn't skimp on their orders. They ordered one gold-covered filet mignon, clocking in at about $272 USD, and three golden steaks totaling nearly $1,400 USD. Meanwhile, one golden Ottoman steak cost over $1,360 USD.

Of course, any good meal isn't complete without good drinks. They ordered five double glasses of Rémy Martin Louis XIII cognac neat for nearly $7,500 and four pornstar martinis for about $130, as well as two bottles of Château Pétrus 2009 red wine for $53,900 and one bottle of Pétrus 2011 for $17,700. Even the water they drank wasn't cheap; they spent nearly $70 just on still water for the table. To top it all off, the customers tipped the server $24,500.

The expensive order didn't sit well with some of Gökçe's followers, especially after he seemingly bragged about the kind of clientele who dine at his restaurants. "That's embarrassing that anyone would spend $100,000+ ON F--KING FOOD," one person wrote, with another agreeing in more blunt terms: "All this just to get a good fart!" One commenter declared it to be the "most overrated and overpriced restaurant," while another stated plainly that their "carpenter can cook better." "This is a case when people have more money than common sense," one user summed it up.

How much would you be willing to pay for the Salt Bae experience?

While the On brand might have added the word “cloud” to the names of each of its running shoes, Asics has been doing it since the ’90s. Originally designed to look and feel like running on cloud formations, the Asics Gel-Nimbus became an “it shoe” for the brand by providing some of the best cushion runners can find—and now it’s up to 50% off.

Right now, the Asics Gel-Nimbus 24 is on sale for as low as $80 on Amazon—down 50% from the original price of $160. It ranks in the top 25 of all men’s running shoes on Amazon after nearly 2,500 five-star ratings and is available in 18 colors. As is always the case, the sale price will vary with color and size, but most are hovering between the $80 to $90 mark.

The Asics Gel-Nimbus 24 is a road-running shoe suited for neutral and underpronating foot types that offers the highest amount of cushion the brand has to offer. With its 10mm drop and 10-ounce weight, it promotes more fluid forward propulsion with each step and will feel slightly heavier than the average pair of Hoka or On running shoes. Like most styles from Asics, it features a mesh upper that promotes breathability with foam and gel throughout the heel and midsole that provide bounce and shock absorption.

Asics has been a brand people have trusted for decades, and the Gel-Nimbus has played a huge role in that success. A shoe born in the late ‘90s, designers sought to build a running shoe reminiscent of cumulonimbus clouds, and that’s where the story began. Many reviews on Amazon will recount models past and how Nimbus diehards either love or hate the new versions. And despite the shoe’s form taking different shapes over time, much like the cloud it was named after, Asics has continued to make this shoe one that works for nearly any foot.

Shoppers love these running shoes for their looks, their adaptability, and their durability, among other things. Some even say they’re the best Asics option for troublesome joints. “I'm pushing 40 and run 20-plus miles per week around town, and the Asics Gel-Nimbus are the best shoes I have found,” one shopper said. “I have chronic patellofemoral syndrome, these are the best. In comparison to the Gel-Cumulus and Dynablast, these are superior in every way.”

Superior mileage is another compliment shoppers commonly pay to the Gel-Nimbus 24. “They didn't name it Nimbus for nothing,” a shopper said. “I own a pair already and have put more than 1,000 miles on it running. These fit perfectly and feel like walking/running on a cloud. It's lightweight as well and super durable.” One thousand miles is a lot—perhaps too much for one pair. But other shoppers have shared their journeys of putting on five to 25 miles per week with ease and having their shoes last beyond the standard retirement of 300 miles.

For up to 50% off the original price, the Asics Gel-Nimbus 24 is good for the getting right now. But because this is a previous model, they likely won’t be restocked. So if you’re seeking a well-cushioned running shoe that can go for miles, pick up your size today while it’s still available.

Tiny homes continue to be a growing form of housing for many Americans looking to have their own space on a budget. Nathan Graham, a YouTuber and online personality better known as Unspeakable, took on a unique challenge when it comes to tiny home living. He bought a small pre-fabricated house on Amazon and attempted to furnish it using only items purchased from the online retailer.

Graham chronicled the saga in a series of TikTok videos. At first, he was a tad disappointed with the size before realizing the walls needed to be unfolded and propped up. "I've never folded a house together," he admitted. "This thing is so easy to build. You literally just unfold it!"

If buying a home on Amazon for tens of thousands of dollars sounds sketchy to you, you aren't alone. Graham confessed he was skeptical that the sale was legit. "I was kinda worried that we were going to get scammed in buying this thing because it had zero reviews," he said, wondering if he's the only person on Earth to have bought that specific unit.

A quick Amazon search reveals the model he appears to have purchased, which retails for just under $20,000.

But Graham didn't stop there. He challenged himself to furnish the entire home with only products purchased off Amazon. "We're gonna see if it's possible to fully live your entire life off only Amazon," he said while carrying a stack of boxes inside. This includes essentials like toilet paper, food, a bunk bed, and a refrigerator, as well as things to stay entertained like a go-kart, a soccer ball, and a puzzle.

Buffalo Bills fans had their Super Bowl dreams dashed after the Kansas City Chiefs managed a tight 27–24 win during the AFC divisional playoff game on Sunday night, ending their six-game winning streak. Adding insult to injury was that Taylor Swift and Jason Kelce—girlfriend and brother to Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who were both in attendance—largely drew attention from the action on the field with their viral appearances.

Naturally, some fans took to local bars to drown their sorrows after the disappointing turn of events, but at least at one Buffalo drinking establishment, they were met with an unfortunate reminder of the Bills' loss. Las Vegas-based sports writer Adam Hill, who was evidently in town for the game, posted video of one dejected fan wearing a Josh Allen jersey with his head slumped down on the bar while Swift's 2014 hit "Shake if Off" played triumphantly in the background.

"Going to the Bills bar and loading the jukebox with Taylor Swift songs is oddly enjoyable," Hill posted to X, formerly Twitter, in the early hours of Monday morning. The 15-second video has since been viewed nearly 1.5 million times.

Going to the Bills bar and loading the jukebox with Taylor Swift songs is oddly enjoyable pic.twitter.com/3yazMWi2vw

— Adam Hill (@AdamHillLVRJ) January 22, 2024

In a follow up post, Hill admitted that he "played close to three hours of songs" with "only a couple repeats."

The rivalry between the Bills and Chiefs has grown into one of the most contemptuous in the NFL. Yet, ahead of Sunday's game, Kansas City took over Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY, with even the concessions stands featuring Taylor Swift-inspired menu items such as "Karma Quesadillas" and "Bad Blood Waffle Fries." Whether at the game or hitting up the bar after, Bills fans truly could not escape the 34-year-old singer.
